Scottish artist Maeve Gillies was destined for a future in jewelry. She fell in love with the medium at the early age of fifteen when she experimented with goldsmithing with a jeweler friend. Maeve pursued formal training in the field by obtaining a degree in jewelry and goldsmithing from the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland and a Master’s at the Royal College of Art in London. While pursuing her studies, Maeve also worked in a jewelry store. She favored diamond engagement ring sales, which, in part, inspired her to create her own bridal line in 2005. Named after the artist’s Celtic name, MaeVona's collection can be seen in galleries throughout the US and Canada. The artist currently resides and works out of New York City.
Maeve creates beautiful engagement rings and wedding bands in both 18k gold and platinum. Her award-winning designs stem from her love and appreciation for nature. Each piece is named after a Scottish island or river. The shapes and contours within Maeve’s designs beautifully echo elements found in nature. Her rings exhibit a striking balance between modernism and tradition, there by making them timeless. To further exhibit her passion for nature, the artist uses reclaimed metals and conflict-free diamonds. All of Maeve’s jewelry is handmade in her New York City workshop.
